The Crofton Special Community Benefits District (CSCBD)
The Crofton Tax District - officially called the Crofton Special Community Benefits District , is the area in Anne Arunde county, Maryland, roughly bounded by Routes 3, 424 and 450. There are parts of this triangle (another name for the tax district) that are not incorporated into the CSCBD, but that covers all of the properties in the tax district.
So, why call it the tax district? Well, the budget managed by the board of directors for the tax district spends property tax dollars from an Anne Arundel county property tax piggy-back tax for a variety of purposes. Those purposes - the special benefits - include a local police force, maintenance and improvement of common areas, and community events throughout the year.
